BJJ for Movement

Sundays 8:30am - 9:45am

Movement Brooklyn offers a BJJ for Movement class.

Why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art based on controlling an opponent in the pursuit of a submission. It is both a self-defense art and a sport, utilizing leverage and technique to control and subdue someone regardless of their size and strength. These are tools that we want as well rounded movement practitioners.  BJJ emphasizes grappling rather than striking, allowing students to practice at a high level of intensity without the threat of injury inherent in martial arts focused on punching and kicking.

Class will be taught by Movement Brooklyn student, and BJJ Brown Belt, Chris Palmisano.

Chris began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2007. Intrigued by the combination of physical and mental challenge, as well as the ability to play a game that reflects both his personality and attributes, he was hooked after the first class.

Chris is a Brown Belt under internationally renowned teacher and 5-time World Champion competitor Marcelo Garcia. He is focused on improving himself as a martial artist and helping his students get the most out of their training.
